Both are lakefront family cabins on Caribou Lake with private docks, boat slips, keyless self check-in, and great internet. The main differences:
Caribou22 — log cabin, 3 bedrooms + lofted sleeping space, 3 baths, sleeps 10. Wood-burning fireplace, screened porch, kayaks, and a fire pit. Faces east — you'll get sunrise over the lake right from the dock. Best for bigger groups, and the closest of the two to the public boat launch.
Caribou Hideaway — 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, sleeps 8, ~1,900 sq ft. Cozy fireplace and a fire pit set right at the water's edge — more lakeside than Caribou22's. Faces west — you'll get sunsets over the lake. Best for families looking for more bedrooms in a slightly smaller footprint.
Standard check-in is 4pm and check-out is 10am. Both cabins have keyless self check-in, so you can let yourself in any time after 4pm. Early check-in or late check-out is sometimes possible if there's no back-to-back booking — just ask.
Yes — both cabins have fast, reliable WiFi. Plenty good enough for streaming, video calls, and a full work-from-cabin day.
Provided: linens, towels, cooking basics, dishware, paper products, laundry detergent, coffee maker, basic toiletries, firewood for the fireplace and fire pit.
Bring: personal toiletries, food & drinks for your stay, any specialty groceries. Nearest grocery is in Lutsen; nearest full-service grocery is in Grand Marais (25 minutes).
Both cabins are on Caribou Lake in Lutsen, Minnesota. Exact addresses and driving directions are sent after you book. Plan on about 3.5 hours north of Minneapolis–St. Paul via Highway 61. Nine miles to Lutsen Mountain ski area, ten miles to the shore of Lake Superior, twenty-five minutes to Grand Marais.
Both cabins have free on-site parking with a driveway and a garage. There's room for multiple vehicles at each — useful when you're bringing a kayak trailer or a roof box of skis.
Yes — Caribou Lake is great for both. Both cabins have a private dock with a boat slip if you bring your own boat, and Caribou22 also has kayaks for guests to use. The public boat launch on Caribou Lake is right by Caribou22. Bring fishing gear (and a Minnesota fishing license).
